​​WHAT IS VIBERZI?​
Viberzi is a prescription medication approved in May of 2015 that is used to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhea (IBS-D)

On March 15, 2017, the FDA issued a Drug Safety Communication advising that serious hospitalizations and death had been associated with Viberzi use by patients who did not have a gallbladder.  The FDA advised patients who do not have a gallbladder not to take Viberzi and to use OTC products such as Pepto-Bismo or Kaopectate instead.

Others who should avoid Viberzi include people who are taking: SLCO1B1 inhibitors, anti-transplant-rejection drugs, opioid medications, Lotronex, anticholinergics, Pepto-Bismol, Kaopectate, and Crestor (a statin drug)

 SYMPTOMS OF PANCREATITIS:

Acute pancreatitis signs and symptoms include:
Upper abdominal pain
Abdominal pain that radiates to your back
Abdominal pain that feels worse after eating
Fever
Rapid pulse
Nausea
Vomiting
Tenderness when touching the abdomen

Chronic pancreatitis signs and symptoms include:
Upper abdominal pain
Losing weight without trying
Oily, smelly stools (steatorrhea)
